Fire Safety Training Enhanced through the use of Sound
Recreating an authentic experience for breathing apparatus training is no small task. But even the best role-playing scenarios are always lacking one important element. The noises made by a burning building. With a lack of visibility and disorientation in an unfamiliar layout, sound takes on a greater significance. It can startle and confuse; distract and frighten. So it’s better for fire fighters to become familiar with the noises in training rather than having to learn about them on the job.
You’ve never heard
anything like it
Much of the training process is about discovering how fire fighters deal with and learn from the unexpected, so it would be pointless if the Concept Noise soundtrack played out the same timing and sequence of effects. Participants would soon get wise to it. That’s why the frequency of effects, their location and the type of noise is completely controlled by trainers using the unit’s laptop.
Give them a realistic experience without the risk. Challenge their senses.
Teach the dangers. Your training will have more impact and lasting effect if your scenario's are realistic.
